Modular Power Sharing Control for Bearingless Multithree Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine

This article proposes a modular approachto the power sharing control of permanent magnet synchronous bearingless machine. The selected machine topology features winding layout with phases distributed into nonoverlapping three phase groups, solution whose twofold aim is to increase fault tolerance and allow for radial force generation. subwindings are supplied by standard three-phase inverter, leading system architecture. A throughout explanation methodology used develop algorithm presented considering torque in combination management Special emphasis placed on validating modeling hypotheses based finite element characterization electro-mechanical behavior. proposed strategy also extended cater possibility one or more inverters failure, thus intrinsic advantage redundancy obtained modularity system. An extensive experimental test campaign finally carried out prototyped multi drive. results validate operation healthy faulty scenarios, both at steady state under extreme transient condition.
